Leslie Stevens, LISW-S

Leslie is an EMDR Certified therapist through EMDR International Association. After working throughout the Cleveland Clinic’s hospital system in both psychiatric and medical settings, it became clear to her, the prevalence of trauma and its pervasive impact on the mind and body. Leslie realized that only a fraction of the people were aware of their trauma history and those who were unaware, recognized the importance of normalizing their experience. Of these people who were unaware, many of them suffered from symptoms that could not be explained through testing, of working with and treating individuals who struggle with trauma, PTSD, Chronic Illness, Depression, and Anxiety.

Leslie is an advocate for the chronic illness community and specializes in helping patients manage their illness through minimizing stress with a patient skills toolbox.

In addition to EMDR, Leslie incorporates different therapeutic modalities that she is certified in (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Reiki) to create an individualized treatment approach that acknowledges that every person is unique, and needs are inherently different. Leslie is currently training to become a trauma-informed yoga teacher to add this modality to her holistic care approach. As a trauma therapist, Leslie’s goal is to allow people to process their earlier life experiences in a safer setting so that they can achieve their greatest level of functioning and live a meaningful life that is not dictated by their past.
